Your First Visit:
Be prepared to spend one and a half to two hours during your initial visit with me. During this time you will have the opportunity to speak at length about your health concerns. This time is designed to enable me to asses the underlying cause of your condition. This will be done through an interview covering your health and personal histories, and a Chinese physical exam. Following the exam you will receive your first treatment. The sessions are always conducted in complete confidentiality. In the beginning, you will be seen weekly. As internal harmony is created, usually after 6-8 weeks, I will begin to see you every other week, every three weeks, monthly, and eventually seasonally. This will vary for each individual.

Before and After Treatment:
To enhance the value of your acupuncture treatments:

Make sure you have eaten before your treatment.

Allow plenty of time to arrive at your appointment - rushing may elevate your pulse rate and blood pressure.

Plan your activities so that after treatment you can get some rest and thus allow your body to gain the maximum benefit.

Continue any care you are receiving from your physician. Continue to take medication as prescribed.

The day of treatment and 24 hours after avoid alcohol, strenuous activity, and caffeine.

Begin to create an observation of changes in your patterns (attitudes, emotions, sleep, appetite, energy, etc.).

Report any changes in physical or emotional patterns that occur between treatment sessions. Such detail is valuable in planning the course of treatment.

Reinforce treatments with thoughts and attitudes.
